Help
me plan for the special needs of my child or grandchild with a disability
Have you planned for the future of your loved one with
special Needs? This is critical, because you have the opportunity
to significantly improve or at least maintain their quality of life
through special needs estate planning.
When thinking ahead for the cost of your child's care, don't underestimate
your own value as caregiver. Yes, it is important to maintain governmental
benefits, but it may be even more important to provide for supplemental
care beyond that available through government benefits.
Frequently caregivers overlook the many services they naturally
and willingly to loved ones to help enhance their quality of life:
- Advocate
- Social service coordinator
- Companion
- Guardianship
- Job coach
- Chauffeur
- Personal care attendant
- Money manager
- Recreation director
- Personal shopper
- Vacation assistant
If you become unable to provide these services or die without planning
for the continuation of these services, your loved one's quality
of life may suffer.

your loved one with special needs will not be at risk from estate
taxes or the high cost of quality long-term care
- Apply and qualify for SSI benefits for a person with disabilities
- Apply and qualify for Medicaid for a person with disabilities
- Provide for a person with special needs in your Will
- Apply for a Guardianship as appropriate
- Set up a Special Needs Trust
- Set up a Supplemental Needs Trust
- Establish a trust, to hold litigation/settlement proceeds or
