What to look for in a lawyer to help with your Elder Law Estate Planning

Remember to look for a lawyer who specializes in Elder Law and Estate Planning, based on their experience and who they help most. You want a lawyer who primarily serves seniors and boomers and understands the legal, financial, health care and government benefits issues surrounding planning for the second half of life. You also don’t want a lawyer who tells everyone that they need a living trust. Wouldn’t you rather talk with a lawyer who takes the time to understand your situation and goals, before telling you what you need?

We would be honored to help if we’re the right firm for you

When you’re looking for an estate lawyer to help with your Elder Law Estate Planning, we’d be glad to talk with you.

At The Elderlaw Firm, we serve clients throughout North Carolina and primarily in central North Carolina. Our main office is in Greensboro, North Carolina (Guilford County). Clients regularly come to us from surrounding counties and beyond. For clients not able to drive we offer phone and video consultations. If you are planning ahead or facing a care crisis, please know that we are here to help.

We often receive referrals from other law firms. Like medicine, law has become more specialized. A general practice lawyer finds it difficult to keep up with the ever-changing rules and complexities in elder law estate planning. Most lawyers handle other matters such as real estate closings, divorce, personal injury, or contract negotiations. Those lawyers understand the value of a specialist in elder law estate planning, and we always welcome their referrals.

What if we’re not the right law firm for you?

If you call us and we aren’t the right law firm for you, we promise to do our best to suggest a helpful direction. We may refer you to another lawyer, or to a lawyer referral organization, or to another public or private agency.  We know lawyers throughout North Carolina and in many other states who we would trust to help our own families, and we will make a referral if we can. If we refer you, the other lawyer will have his or her own way of doing business, and we won’t be involved in your representation.

What to expect from us

You’ll find that we always start out by asking you to tell us about your situation, and what you want to accomplish. We’ll want to know about your family, your health, how you found us, and about your finances and current estate planning. If we think we’re the right law firm to help you, we will set up a time to come in and discuss the initial consultation fee. At our meeting after we diagnose your situation we will discuss the appropriate plan for you. We will discuss the exact cost, down to the penny because we provide fixed fees to our clients.

Yes, we know many people think that lawyers are scary and intimidating. We also know that talking about these issues is not comfortable for many people. Don’t let that stop you. You’ll feel welcomed and treated like family when you come to our office. We’ll explain the best plan for your action in plain English, and you’ll know you came to the right place. Your satisfaction is important to us.

When you’re looking for a lawyer, find one that you’re comfortable with and believe will help you and your family through various stages of life and difficult times.

At The Elderlaw Firm, we are committed to providing you with the best counsel and support and customer service. We look forward to meeting you if can help.
